What's New at Wimsey
People, places and things around Wimsey. This column will look at Wimsey and
the people that make it function.
- Library on line
- We dropped into the Port Moody public library today to speak with Brian
Pulham the Chief Librarian. Lo and behold, there was a computer set up
with a modem and sporting Moasic and Wimsey's home page right out in the
main display area ready for patrons to browse the WEB with. We think this is
a first for the Greater Vancouver area. Watch for the library to enter the
electronic publishing arena with information and schedules some time in the
not too distant future.
- We will be doing introductory seminars on August 9th and 17th at the
Port Moody library. These are aimed at people who have never experienced the
Internet, so tell your friends. Registration at 939-6955 (you might have to
wait a couple of days for them to get it set up). The seminars will be in
the evening and space is limited.
- New Mail Spool File
- For those of you who telnet to or log on interactively to our system (rather
than using just SLIP/PPP and the mail and news clients on your machine) will
soon notice a new file in your home directory and a minor change to your
.profile file. The mail spool file was /usr/spool/mail/{yourid}. It will now
be in your home directory as .mailfile.
- The
MAIL=/usr/spool/mail/$LOGNAME
entry in your .profile will be changed to reflect this.
