What's New at WimseyWell, we've been promising new phone lines for months, and they are finally here! A new bank of modems and completely digital lines has been installed in downtown Vancouver and was turned on and tested in the first week of July. Aside from a minor routing problem that has been fixed, they have performed flawlessly from the start.
The new lines will very shortly become the only 28,800 local dial lines. Presently our Vancouver customers may dial the old (257-1101) CENTREX number, or the replacement 421-2253 number or the brand new 669-8604 number and get a 28,800 connection.
The 257-1101 number is limited to less than 5 call forwards and will be DISCONNECTED totally at the end of July 1995. Customers should stop using it now.The 421-2253 number will continue to work for a short time however it will be DISCONNECTED with no further notice as soon as BC Tel can break the group up and add some of the lines to the 14,400 group. The balance of the lines will be used for dedicated 28,800 customers, one line each (note: this facility is $350/month for those interested).
The 669-8604 (new) number is fully operational and except for those customers with dedicated IP address, should be treated as the only 28,800 dial line now.
