November is going to be a challenging month for Wimsey. First we will have new phone lines to both install and learn how to use, and the inevitable landslide of phone calls from those who missed the announcement of the changes (and the further announcement of the postponement).

In addition, our consulting side will be delivering several of our new packaged Internet Points of Presence to their new owners across Canada. Wimsey has been in the computer consulting and system administration business for many years. In fact this was our primary business until mid 1993, accounting for over 95% of our sales and income.

In the past year this side has been kept busy just looking after our own growth but now we are again looking at products. The first we are offering is a fully "turn-key" Internet site, with training, installation, and on-going support services. This product is a direct offshoot of our successful operation here in Vancouver. As noted above, we already have sales for it, and we havn't even advertised it yet.

In the months since 1993, Wimsey's small Internet feed site has grown tremendously and has taken our staff to its present level of 8 full time and several part time and associates. Just keeping up with this rapid growth in the dialup side of our business has left little time for much other than emergency work on our other computer business interests. This is changing. We are now at a staff level that we again are looking at new products and services to offer the business and Internet communities.

It seems that November is going to be busy for me personally too. I have many speaking engagements during the month, including at least one spot on CKNW open line and a promise of at least one TV appearance. The Internet is THE hot topic in technology today, and we at Wimsey are seen (rightly I hope) as being leaders in the field. I have made a point of taking speaking engagements with groups in order to foster the cooperative environment that the Internet has had in the past and inform those about to join it what to expect and what the 'Net expects from them. If you have such a group looking for a speaker please contact me or Nick MacDonald, my Sales Manager.
